OGBO OSSAI is the Principal Attorney at Ossai Law Firm, PLLC. He focuses his practice on U.S. trade law and regulatory compliance as it relates to import, export and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) requirements.
He has assisted companies in developing and implementing trade compliance programs, performing compliance reviews, providing compliance training, developing and managing antiboycott compliance programs, denied party screening, licensing (including Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs) and Manufacturing License Agreements (MLAs)), Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) and voluntary-self disclosures.
Mr. Ossai has also assisted companies with import regulations related to on-site reviews of compliance programs including Foreign Trade Zones (FTZs) and duty drawback programs, HTS classifications (including classification of chemicals), valuation, bilateral and multilateral trade agreements, ADD/CVD, Importer Self-Assessment (ISA), Customs-Trade Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), preparing binding-ruling requests, Post-Entry Amendments (PEAs), Protests and prior disclosures.
Mr. Ossai:
- Assists clients in complex regulatory trade compliance requirements
- Researches and prepares opinion letters on dutiability of assists and other valuation issues.
- Assists clients in the development and implementation of internal compliance programs addressing export controls, “deemed” exports, economic sanctions, Antiboycott issues, and FCPA issues
Prior to opening Ossai Law Firm, PLLC, Mr. Ossai was the Associate General Counsel at FTS International; Senior Attorney, International Trade at Ladner & Associates, PC; and an Associate in the International Trade Section at Epstein Becker Green Wickliff & Hall. In addition to his international trade law experience, Mr. Ossai was a Principal Contract Specialist with Lyondell Chemical Company and a Contract Specialist with Amoco Corporation where he negotiated contracts involving engineering, procurement and construction projects and technology consulting services.
